3G/4G Users in Pakistan Reach 109.72 Million

By the end of January 2022, Pakistan had 109.72 million 3G and 4G customers, up from 107.68 million at the end of December 2021, representing a 1.52 million gain in the month of December 2021.

The number of cellular users in Pakistan climbed by 1.8 million to 190.51 million by the end of January 2022, up from 188.71 million in December 2021, according to figures issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

By the end of December 2021, cellular mobile teledensity had risen to 85.94 percent, and by the end of January 2022, it had risen to 86.71 percent. During this time, total teledensity climbed from 87.08 percent to 87.85 percent.

By the end of January 2022, monthly Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration had reached 49.94 percent, up from 49.04 percent in December 2021.

In January 2022, Jazz’s total number of 3G users was 6.712 million, down from 6.809 million in December, a fall of 0.097 million. During this time, however, the number of Jazz 4G users increased from 34.750 million to 35.324 million.

By the end of January, the number of Zong 3G subscribers had dropped from 3.650 million to 3.561 million. During the time period under consideration, the number of 4G customers increased from 26.389 million to 26.953 million.

Telenor’s 3G subscribers fell from 4.090 million at the end of December to 3.994 million at the end of January. By the end of January, the number of 4G customers had risen to 20.385 million, up from 19.824 million the previous month.

By the end of January, there were 3.877 million Ufone 3G users, up from 3.871 million the previous month. Ufone’s 4G users climbed by over a half million to 7.653 million in the month that concluded on January 31, 2022, up from 7.112 million in December 2021.

It’s worth noting that, following the acquisition of extra spectrum, Ufone’s proportion of new 4G subscribers has risen to well over 20%, up from roughly 4% prior to the acquisition.

Ufone was recently named the greatest network in terms of download and upload speeds by PTA, thanks to the operator’s increased spectrum. Given the current trend, it is probable that Ufone will continue to add a significant number of new users to its 4G network in the months ahead.
