Oppo Launches its Best Phone Yet

Before making its debut in China, the Oppo Find X5 Pro was released worldwide. There are significant upgrades over the previous iteration, the Find X3 Pro, including an improved build, battery technology, and camera technology.

Let’s have a look at the features of Oppo’s latest flagship phone.

Design and Display

The Chinese phone comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2K resolution on the front. The power efficiency is due to LTPO technology, which can reduce the refresh rate to 1Hz when necessary. The touch sampling rate of the display can reach 1000Hz, making it faster than other gaming phones on the market.

It also covers the entire DCI P3 colour gamut, ensuring exceptional colour fidelity. With 8,192 brightness levels, the maximum brightness is 1300 nits. The front panel is made of Gorilla Glass Victus, while the back panel is made of ceramic. Oppo has also included IP68 water and dust resistance. The phone’s ceramic back plate adds weight (218g), but it also improves heat conductivity.

Internals and Storage

Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is a powerful chipset, it is prone to overheating. Along with the big cooling chamber, the ceramic back panel should aid here. The primary CPU is combined with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, however there is no microSD card port, which is common in today’s flagships.

ColorOS 12.1 is based on Android 12.1, and it improves aesthetics, privacy, and security.

A pair of 50MP sensors (wide and ultrawide) as well as a 13MP telephoto unit make up the main camera configuration. The 13MP coom camera has the same 5x hybrid zoom and 2x optical magnification as the previous model.

The Sony IMX766 sensor (1/1.56″, 1.0 m) is used in the two 50MP cameras, which have better processing algorithms and support hardware. The 6nm MariSilicon X chip, which is an NPU with a lot more AI prowess, is responsible for a lot of the gains. It allows for improved AI noise reduction and 4K Ultra Night Video, which has less noise and better colours than regular night mode video.

Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) are both available on all cameras, allowing for very steady images.

The Sony IMX709 sensor powers the 32MP selfie camera, allowing it to collect 60% more light than before for better image quality. It’s a wide-angle lens with a field of view of up to 90 degrees.

Battery and Pricing

The 5,000 mAh capacity is a little improvement over last year’s (4,500 mAh), but it’s the new Battery Health Engine that makes the difference. When compared to a standard battery, it has doubled the cell’s lifespan. Fast charging has been improved to 80W wired and 50W wireless.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro will be available in Ceramic White and Glaze Black colour variants in Europe on March 14 for a starting price of €1,300.
