MediaTek is shaping out to be a serious competitor to Qualcomm. In the past, the Taiwanese chipmaker was best known for producing mid-range chipsets, but it has recently focused more on flagship-grade devices.
The Dimensity 9000, which competes against top-tier SoCs like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Exynos 2200, A15 Bionic, and others, was introduced at the end of 2021 as the company’s most powerful chipset to date.
Oppo has now revealed that the Dimenisty 9000 would be featured on the Oppo Find X5, the company’s forthcoming flagship phone. The confirmation comes from Oppo’s official Weibo account, indicating that the device will be released in China soon. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is anticipated to be used in the international model.
The Oppo Find X5, X5 Pro, X5 Lite, and X5 Neo are expected to be among the four phones in the Find X5 series, as is customary. The Find X5 and Find X5 Pro are scheduled to be released first, with the less expensive variants following later. The lower-cost phones will most likely use high-end CPUs from the previous generation, such as the Snapdragon 778G.
The Oppo Find X5 series will be available in China on February 24, 2022, according to the Weibo tweet. This suggests that a global launch should happen within the next month or two.
