Pakistan is on the road to commercially having the most advanced 5G internet by 2022-23, accelerating download speeds by 10 to a gigabit per second (Gbps), and boosting economic development. It will make it easier for people to conduct their tasks online without problems.

In its annual report 2020 of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), the Pakistani government has stated its active commitment to the creation of a roadmap to prepare 5G technologies to auction the 5G services spectrum during the fiscal year 2023.

Aminul Hakes says that the government plans to introduce the 5G Technology before December 2022, according to the Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications. Experts agree however that 5G technology is to be implemented in the country for much more time (approximately 5-7 years).

In 2019 and 2020, 5G networks were also evaluated in a restricted setting and on a non-commercial level by network operators. Pakistan is the first South Asian nation to have successfully tested 5G with “more than one Gbps recorded download speed.” On the 4G internet, the speeds tested were 10 times greater than 100 megabits per second (Mbps).
