Twitter DMs Could Get a Major Overhaul Following QuillChat Acquisition

Twitter Direct Messages may be upgraded soon as a result of a new acquisition by the company. The social media behemoth has announced the acquisition of Quill, a messaging tool for team collaboration and communication. It competes with other productivity tools such as Slack and Microsoft Teams.

QuillChat prioritises keeping messages structured and notifications to a minimal when you’re at work. In the future, Twitter may consider adding similar functionality to its app.

Quill will be discontinued as a separate app following the acquisition, however you will still be able to preserve all of your texts. It will close on December 11 and would provide full refunds to its users.

We will continue to work with Twitter to achieve our initial goal of making online conversation more deliberate and effective for everyone.

In comparison to other messaging apps, Twitter DMs are currently relatively plain and barebones. However, given this acquisition, it would not be surprising to see Twitter improve DMs.

The bird app may include chat channels similar to Slack/Discord that will allow you to communicate with a big group of users. Perhaps there will be more voice chat possibilities as well.

However, because the acquisition plans are still in the works, it will be some time before we see any changes on Twitter.
